Hastings Secondary College students had the opportunity to see how their classroom learning connects to the real world at our ‘Meet the Scientist’ event. This interactive experience brought together experts in healthcare, engineering, environmental science, forensic analysis, and more, demonstrating how the science they study in school applies to everyday life!
Guest scientists, including conservationists, engineers, ecologists, police crash investigators, and medical professionals, shared their insights, helping students see the direct relevance of their studies and how science plays a role in solving real-world challenges.
The event is designed to make science real for students by helping them connect what they learn in the classroom with the world beyond school. It gave them a hands-on look at how the scientific concepts they explore can be used to address important issues in society.
Initiatives like this, combined with the unwavering commitment and expertise of our educators in fostering curiosity, critical thinking, and a passion for learning, have boosted student engagement and academic performance in Science-related subjects at Hastings Secondary College.
