It was wonderful to spend some quality time with the incredible Year 6 Lake Cathie Public School students and learn about their future career aspirations and goals during their taster tour this week. These tours provide a rich and interactive experience, igniting excitement for participants’ upcoming high school academic adventure.
Our enthusiastic guests explored various departments, each showcasing unique opportunities for practical learning, creativity, skill-building and personal growth. Alongside our (Rel.) College Principal, Mr Phil Harris and Lake Cathie Public School Principal, Mr Jock Garven, the tour highlighted some of the exceptional programs and facilities available at our college and underscored our commitment to providing an holistic education that nurtures passions and prepares students for success in various fields.
The tour began with a visit to our TAS (Technological and Applied Studies) department, where our visitors enjoyed learning about our Robotics and STEM opportunities and exploring the Augmented Reality Welding Systems. The woodwork and metalwork rooms were a hive of activity with college students busy working on their projects.
We also visited our Food Technology classrooms. The Student Cafe, managed by our hospitality students, provides a real-world setting for learning customer service, food preparation, service and barista skills. It was great to learn that many of the students enjoy cooking. They will surely savour everything they learn in their food technology classes.
The Sewing and Design room was a highlight for students interested in fashion and textile arts. Here, college students discover a world of creativity where fabric and imagination come together. The hands-on experience inspires many of our students to consider and pursue possibilities within the fashion and design industry.
We hope our guests felt inspired by the diverse opportunities to explore their interests and develop new skills. Hearing their feedback was fantastic, especially when they shared that our time together helped ease concerns about their upcoming transition to high school.
Thank you again for visiting our vibrant and dynamic learning environment and being part of this amazing experience
