Year 7 & 8 Gardening and School Beautification

Students painting bins

Students have shown a passionate and enthusiastic attitude towards their 'Gardening and School Beautification' PIP, and as a result, they have accomplished fantastic improvements. Year 7 and 8 have been working on these fantastic projects:

  • Prepare, plant, and maintain a garden bed with a variety of vegetables and herbs at the agricultural farm.
  • Establishing a paper recycling program and painting recycling bins to encourage correct usage. The bins will be placed in classrooms, for collection of paper for recycling and subsequently placed in the recycling skip bin.
  • Creating a sensory wall garden as a space where students can have a break and feel calmed by the variety of aromas and textures.
  • Improve the appearance of the campus grounds by picking up rubbish and placing it in the appropriate bin, a student initiative.
  • Cleaning up gardens: raking and composting leaf debris around the campus entrance, along with weeding and tidying.
  • 'Return and Earn' team project, the money raised will be invested in enhancing the campus environment.

To ensure their initiatives continue, discussions are taking place around forming an environmental group for 2023. All students are welcome to support and join the group, so a positive, engaging, and sustainable school environment is maintained.
