Rotary Supports the National Youth Science Forum

Rotary group

For those who don't know, the National Youth Science Forum (NYSF) is a two-week program that brings together over 600 high school students from around Australia who are passionate about science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) . It's a chance to meet new people, explore different fields of study, and get a taste of university and research life.

The Rotary Club of Port Macquarie West Inc. supported our Year 12 student, Jorja Schofields’ recent participation in the program, and they were thrilled to hear all about it last night.

NYSF exceeded all of Jorja’s expectations. From the moment she arrived, she felt welcomed and inspired by the energy and enthusiasm of the other participants, the staff, and the guest speakers. She had a jam-packed schedule of visits to labs, workshops, and lectures, as well as plenty of social and cultural activities.

Jorja learned so much about cutting-edge research , scientific method , and career pathways in STEM. She also made some amazing friends, some of whom she will remain in touch with. Jorja is already planning to head along to NYSF as a ‘Staffie’ to help support next year’s participants!

We warmly thank the Rotary Club of Port Macquarie West who made Jorja’s NYSF experience possible and for supporting our college community.

We can't wait to see where Jorja’s passion for STEM will take her next.
