Excellence Innovation Opportunity Success

2021

The Year 7 induction camp on Dunghutti Country at South West Rocks during week 7 was a success! During the camp we were accompanied to our accommodation by our Westport cohort. On arrival at South West Rocks the boys unpacked the vans at the Navy Cadets complex, and headed to Trial Bay Goal beach for a quick surf.

Following this, academy members and staff prepared to head a short distance to the local community of Fig Tree Estate. Here the boys were welcomed to Country by Uncle Lionel Blair and Uncle Bennelong Carrol. The two men are avid cultural dance performers, and practice many of the local cultural practices significant to that area.

On Friday, the boys travelled back to Port Macquarie to discuss the Clontarf Pillars and how each pillar and its activities are designed to support their educational journey from Year 7 to 12. Each member was required to place photos that corresponded to each pillar and discuss why they thought that photo related to the pillar chosen. It was a great opportunity for the boys to start learning public speaking skills.

We look forward to the journey ahead with these young men.
